Daily Walks

Since being here in Arizona, Liam and I have been going for daily walks with Tabbi and her girls Madi and Adalie. We had to put the walks on hiatus last week due to the below freezing weather, but the weather is looking to be a lot warmer this next week. Liam quite enjoys riding in his carrier and falls asleep during walks. I got him that blue sun hat (which is so big if covers his whole head. This hat will totally last him well into next year.

Side note to what went on this last week. On Monday morning (4 AM) I took Mike up to base (Fort Huachuca) so he could go out for his field training part of his Military Intelligence Officer Basic Training Course (MI BOLC). See why the military uses so many acronyms? So this 4 AM drop off happened after I had stayed up the whole night watching Tabi's girls while she took Ben to the ER. Poor guy was sick and a bit dehydrated and still went out into the field with Mike the next day. Talk about dedication!

Coming down to Arizona, I thought that we were getting away from any temperature below 30 degrees. To my surprise (and everyone else here) We saw temperatures actually get down to single digits. It was 2 degrees out in the field where Mike was and it was 5 degrees here. Those aren't typos! Liam and I didn't do much during those really cold days. Just stayed inside and kept warm. We were blessed that our pipes didn't burst and our heat (gas) wasn't turned off like most people. Another blessing from the cold weather is that Mike got to come home early from the field. People were getting frostbite, there were snow storms, and almost everyone rolled their ankle (Mike did pretty badly) and had nasty cactus (splinters?). Mike told me that several guys had to go to the hospital to get some out (especially those from aloe vera plants). But I am glad that Mike could come back Wednesday night instead of Thursday (or even Friday) that was originally planned.

On Thursday night, we went to a Greek restaurant (called My Big Fat Greek Restaurant) where they blew fire and lit our cheese appetizer on fire. Mike had lamb chops (all cooked to different doneness) and I had some type of spinach phyllo pastry thing. The food wasn't all that amazing and the service was down right slow. But the entertainment was there. We had to put Liam in his snow suit to take him out that night as it was still in the teens. Then we had Vinny's New York Pizza on Friday (very delicioso) and went to this mexican place called Mia's Mexican Grill on Saturday with the Huzzey's. It was like a chipotle, not a family style restaurant.

So even though it was freezing ( I had to wear a coat outside to do laundry), we had a very nice relaxing week. Here's to a warmer week!

  2. In Southern Arizona you are SURE to have a warmer weeks. I've never eaten a flaming cheese appetizer before. I think I would like the Pizza place best too. Mike and Liam both sound sound like quite the troopers.
