Commissioning

On June 18th, Mike commissioned as a Lieutenant into the Army. It was a nice ceremony at the Hinckley Visitors Center at BYU. Our friends Miriam and Jorge were able to come as well as Caleb, Tracy, and Mike's Parents. Jorge got to be the first person to salute Mike and Mike gave him a shiny old silver dollar. KrisAna and I put Mike's rank on him. It was a little hard to get the shoulder boards on him because it is a frog and loop type of setup, but I fixed it once we were all sitting down again! The Army gave Mike a plaque as being part of the Helaman 2000 Warriors from BYU and I got a fancy plaque for being an awesome wife. Who knew I would get awards for having the opportunity to spend my life with an awesome guy. It was a very nice day and was right after when Mike and I had finished all of our classes and were officially done with our Undergraduate classes at BYU. So that week we (1) took finals, (2) passed all our classes, and (3) commissioned Mike into the Army. Busy week. :)

Mike with his shiny new butter bar on his hat. Doesn't he look all official?

Jorge saluting Mike.

Our totally awesome friends Miriam and Jorge and their daughter Megan. And see that cookie Megan has? She shared her cookies with me and it totally saved my life (or at least my sanity) while we waited to go out for some delicious Indian food later with Mike's parents and Caleb & Sara. Yay cute and happy little family!

Caleb showed up to show support from the Bragg side of the family! Caleb was awesome enough to put up with me totally forgetting to tell him about the big event until like the day before. Sara had to work but she got to eat lunch with us later!

KrisAna (Mike's Mom) and I putting on his rank. See the pretty blue shoulder boards? And that is the same uniform that Mike had on in our wedding pictures.

This Week is going to be AWESOME

Just because I finish up my college career. :) Yay Food Science Degree!

Dining Out

So we went to Mike's military ball thing. Fun food and a good end of the school year party. We got to dress up all fancy. I even barely still fit into one of my prom dresses. woohoo! And we were just so cute. A very good night, even though it was very rainy and the food was from a local catering (not so yummy) company.

Aren't we just adorable?

Graduation

So I'm totally documenting things backwards, but hey, at least I'm getting things up, right? So back in April, Mike and I walked for our graduation at BYU. So we're not officially graduated until August, but we both are finished with our undergrad work this Wednesday (June 16). That means that I am done with formal education forever after I take my final on Wednesday! Woohoo! We're still trying to figure out what and where Mike is going to do his Masters or PhD. We'll keep you updated though! Now that my time in school is pretty much done, I think that I will be able to keep up this blog thing a little better. :)

So we so happened to end up right where my family was sitting. Hence, the awesome pictures!

Tiarra and Javier had our camera so we have this lovely picture too. :)

 Happy Graduation!

Happy Anniversary

SO a  month ago, Mike and I had our 1st year anniversary. We went to this awesome B&B in Sandy called the Castle Creek Inn. The place actually looked like a castle! Thanks to Chrissy and Patrick for going there first and telling us about it! There was even a pool table in our room! How totally awesome is that? We then got to do a live session at the Salt Lake Temple that Saturday. Totally cool. After the temple, we went to The Pie-- the best pizza place in Salt Lake. It's run by the U (University of Utah). Then we went to another restaurant for dinner of a name that I can't remember. It was ok, but since I can't remember the name, guess that Italian food wasn't so memorable.

Happy Birthday Weekend

Even though Mike had to be gone for my birthday, I was still able to have fun. Awesome friends Alissa and Chrissy came over and helped decorate cupcakes inspired by Van Gogh's "Starry Starry Night". Totally Awesome!

The beginning of the End

We are in the midst of finals here at BYU. Mike is gone at drill today and I have been cleaning the house. I suppose studying would be a better use of my time but there is nothing like cleaning to procrastinate something else. I am very glad to see the end of this semester. Just some classes in the spring and then I am done with college forever! What am I going to do when I'm out of school? Who knows.
